Community guidelines

TPO Community is about bringing people and causes together; sharing ideas and stories about the things that they are passionate about.

It’s special because together we can raise billions for amazing causes, connect with others and be inspired by them.

This community is built on a foundation of friendliness, respect and trust.

We invite you to participate and leave your mark here, but we do have a few rules to make sure everyone can enjoy their experience.

We’ll all help to support and manage this community within these guidelines, along with the Terms and Conditions.

We encourage you to help shape these guidelines and you can discuss the finer points here.

Respect

We’re a bunch of all-sorts and differences should be celebrated. It’s the simplest advice; treat others as you expect to be treated, and we’ll all get along just fine.

Be yourself, be truthful

We’re into truth and transparency, so we expect you to be truthful about your identity, affiliations and age. We expect each person to have just one account, multi account management may result in suspension of all related accounts.

Have good clean fun

We encourage banter, we adore banter. We’d be lost without memes. Just make sure that no one is unfairly the butt of the joke and you’re not hurting anyone.

Healthy debate, constructive criticism

We encourage everyone to be able voice their opinion, engage in healthy debate as critics help all of us expand our horizons. Be respectful of others, arrange your argument without attacking the person.

Boundaries and censorship

You need to be 13 years or older to join the community. With this in mind as we’re building a community for everyone, we expect people to be respectful of people of all ages and the pictures and content that is posted should reflect that mutual respect.

People will want to test the boundaries. However as we’re about raising billions for great causes – we don’t want to be spending our time being distracted from that. The final call on what is acceptable will be that of the Community Manager.

Spam

It’s just for sandwiches, we’d like to keep the community free from unsolicited messaging – no spamming others, thanks. This includes random links to websites, it’s really not necessary, so please refrain from popping promotional links in your posts and signatures.

We’re lovers, not fighters

We have a zero tolerance policy on harassment ("cyber bullying") of community members or staff members. This policy also extends to nuisance communications. Anyone who feels they are being bullied, or suspects bullying of another should immediately report this to a Community Manager. TPO may take legal action when appropriate.

Abuse of any kind will not be tolerated, including things like linking to malicious content with the intention to damage or disrupt another user's browser or computer or to compromise a user’s privacy.

We keep things tidy

Occasionally people will post personal information, say things that shouldn’t have been said etc, we’ll edit posts occasionally, where possible we’ll keep posts where they were.

In time in order to keep things orderly, we may move posts to another area if we feel they belong in another category.

When things are a little more serious, we’ll remove a post from view.

Keeping the peace

Ultimately, it falls to the Community Manager to keep the peace. It shouldn’t happen very often, but we will remove people who harass other people. Personal attacks, insults and persistent negativity won’t be tolerated.

How do I change my notifications?

It’s easy to change your notifactions, simply click this link, www.tpo.com/users/edit_settings or follow the instructions below.

  1. On the TPO website click on your profile picture, which is at the top of the page, on the right-hand side.
  2. Click ‘Settings’ from the drop-down menu that appears.
  3. In the next screen click on the words “Notification settings”

Once on the ‘Notification setting’ page, simply check or uncheck the boxes you want to change, and then press ‘Update my settings’ at the bottom of the page. If you ‘uncheck’ a box, you will no longer receive those notifications.
